Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) capable of detecting physiological effects
related to neuronal function in the brain has been developed over the past
15 years, and is known as fMRI. An overview will be presented of MRI
methods and the specific application of fMRI. Research into methods to
adapt these techniques for use in the spinal cord will be discussed,
including the challenges to be overcome and current evidence that the
results obtained arise from neuronal activity and related physiological
effects.
Patrick Stroman is the Canada Research Chair in Imaging Physics in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and the Centre for Neuroscience Studies at Queen's. |
