| Abstract | |
|
When it is completed in 2012, the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) will
provide improvements of more than an order of magnitude in sensitivity,
resolution, and imaging quality over existing millimetre and submillimetre radio
astronomical telescopes. ALMA promises to revolutionize our understanding of the
processes of galaxy, star, and planet formation. In my talk, I will review the
technology, current state, and future plans for ALMA and present a few key
examples to illustrate the wide range of science that will be possible with
ALMA. |
