The unprecedented luminosities achieved by the SLAC and KEK B-factories provide fertile ground for searches for rare B meson decays. The large size of the current BaBar data set, corresponding to approximately 100 million Y(4s) to B Bbar events, has also permitted the use of novel methods to search for ``difficult'' rare decay modes such as those possessing multiple unobserved neutrinos. The results of recent searches for several rare semileptonic B decay modes are presented, and the prospects for future discoveries are discussed. |
