Radon and Radium measurements in Water

Bassam Aharmim

Time

Wed. April 9, 2003     3:00 PM     Stirling 201

Abstract

An overview of Radon and Radium measurements will be presented. Three main topics will be developed. First, a brief description of measuring methods, which were developed during a Ph. D. thesis research are given. The implication of Radon as a serious source of background in solar neutrino experiments are outlined. Finally, continuous Radon-in water monitor based on hollow fibre membrane and electrostatic Radon detector which were developed during an internship at Max-Planck Institute in Heidelberg in Germany will be presented.
