Reliable tracking in a high rate hadronic environment is a challenge for
detector construction and operation. The extensive R&D programm triggered
by this problem led to the invention of micro pattern detectors which were
foreseen to be used in many new HEP experiments. HERA-B is the first
experiment to build a large scale system of this kind. I will report about
the outcome of this enterprise and the (final) data taken with the
detector. |
