| Abstract | |
|
The 2003 Nobel Prize in Medicine to Paul Lauterbur and Peter Mansfield
highlighted again the great contribution of physics to medicine over the
last 109 years. In this talk we will consider these contributions by
reviewing the recognition from the Nobel committee over the years.
Specific attention will be given to medical imaging, and to the history
of the development of CT and MRI. This consideration may help explain
why some physicists were honoured last year, while others took out
advertisements in the New York papers to lament injustices. |
